NYC Weekly Show Highlights: 02/19 - 02/25

By the time you read this, I will be spearing fish and eating pineapples with the skin on. I'm talking about Hawaii. I won't be at these shows, but that means you should just enjoy a Hanson-free music experience as there will now be a 90% less chance of finding beard hair in your vicinity.

Monday, 02/19/18: Pink Mexico, Prettiest Eyes, Cup at Saint Vitus

The fuzz is ensconced in Vitus' hallowed halls and this night is no different. Headbang your way to glory for fuzz rules all and there are not enough chips in the world to tell me differently.

Tuesday, 02/20/18: MammaBear, The Black Black, Sic Tic at Alphaville

You can't just put a show with so much this early in the week. It makes it unfair for the rest of the week to catch up. Thankfully I'm in Hawaii so I'm only getting the aftershocks but for y'all, get those nugs and do that thing.

Wednesday, 02/21/18 - Death Match 8 with Tight Fright and Mayor Creep at Tender Trap

Honestly I'm very pissed I'm missing this underground no-holds-barred wrestling match with a special appearance by newly re-formed Mayor Creep pounding the chugga chuggas and squealy dees for this very occasion.

Thursday, 02/22/18: The Rizzos, World's Greatest Detective, James Darling, C'yotes at Our Wicked Lady

It's wonderful how often these Thursdays for the Cause end up on these lists and this is another home run of rock 'n' roll anthems from these Brooklyn treasures. Don't miss your good deed for the week.

Friday, 02/23/18: Space Merchants, Crazy Pills, Pow Wow, Long Spells at Pet Rescue

Pet Rescue might not be standing after this, but it'll go out in a blaze of glory. Thankfully Pow Wow has risen from the ashes once again and all hell is breaking loose. Who let the dogs out at Pet Rescue, I ask?

Saturday, 02/24/18: Mark Perro Band, No Ice, Big Cheese, Shadow Monster at Alphaville

Lace up the dancing shoes and get thee back to Alphaville for another encounter of the rock 'n' roll kind. Tell mom to get off your back 'cuz you got places to be and tunes to love and nugs to chow and Jamie Frey to noogie.

Sunday 02/25/18: Sammi Lanzetta, Ghost Funk Orchestra, Kanneka Cook, El Silver Cabs at Brooklyn Bazaar

Sammi Lanzetta returns to lure you to their island (the venue) with their enchanting siren song. They're backed by heavy Brooklyn hitters for what might be the live equivalent to feeding the juke box all night long and never hitting a dud.

Greg Hanson lives in Brooklyn and plays in a bunch of bands, founded King Pizza Records, and goes to a bunch of shows. This might qualify him to write about these shows for Blood Sweat and Beers.
