NYC Weekly Show Highlights: 03/05 - 03/11

I'm back and spring is starting to peak over the rooftops and while it's still the dance between "hell yes" and "god no" that seems inherent in March's blood, there's salvation beyond the rays and music to get us through...

Tuesday, 03/06/18: Dead Sculptures from the Palace Garden Art Opening w/ Mutant Scum, Dad, Your Dream Coat at The Footlight

Art at the Footlight is back with a bunch of killer designs from Mike Turzanski and the bands that used them. Brash to bash, rock 'n' roll and killer art that is sure to get your Tuesday in a tizzy.

Thursday, 03/08/18: Parlor Walls, Fruit x Flowers, Sodium Beast, Toyzanne at Rose Gold

Weird and wild seems to be the theme as these bands seem to alternate between these two wonderful descriptors—upbeat punk for all but the spikey jacket bunch from soup to guts.

Friday, 03/09/18: Hounds Basket, The Mad Doctors, Big Cheese, Almoon at The Gutter

Really stoked to be playing this one cuz Hounds Basket is back, baby, and there's nothing you can do to stop 'em. Churning out nasty grunge metal tunes is no crime but we all might get indicted for nastiness.

Saturday, 03/10/18: Milk Dick, Pow Wow!, Toyzanne, Cloakz at The Gutter

Night two at The Gutter has another recently reformed rev-up with Pow Wow! back for more with perennial weirdos Milk Dick and Toyzanne bringing eclectic upbeat craziness to the mix.

Sunday, 03/11/18:  Native Sun, Vamanos, Steady Sun + Surprise band at Our Wicked Lady

I like surprises and I like fuzz so this is a bill to get my blood going, personally. Lots of guitar riffery and long hairs doing their best to bludgeon their strings in a gnarly attempt at knocking the damn place down.

Greg Hanson lives in Brooklyn and plays in a bunch of bands, founded King Pizza Records, and goes to a bunch of shows. This might qualify him to write about these shows for Blood Sweat and Beers.
