The ties between Richmond, VA and New York City are strong, and this banger bill last Sunday at Brooklyn Bazaar proved it. Brooklyn's El Silver Cabs kicked the evening off with an energetic set that got the crowd in the right headspace for the wonders that were to come. Next up was Richmond's Kenneka Cook, whose soulful sounds had everyone in the room groovin' along. By the time New York's Ghost Funk Orchestra took the stage the positive vibes in the room were palpable and this local supergroup didn't disappoint and it was lovely to see them on a stage so large. Sammi Lanzetta, who has been bouncing between Brooklyn and Richmond often in the last few months, totally crushed it with the headlining set with her sweet riffs and clever lyrics. A killer way to kick off the week.
